‘Mystery man’ of mystery doll case has been charged with kidnapping and murder
A mystery man suspected of kidnapping and killing his two-year-old daughter has been arrested and charged with murdering her, authorities said Thursday.
Shaun Lee Dyson, 31, was arrested in connection with the death of his daughter, Kayla, in January and was being held in the Los Angeles County Jail.
Dyson was arrested Wednesday in an apartment complex in Burbank, California, after an arrest warrant was issued by the Los Feliz Police Department, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
Kayla, who went by the name Kimberly, was found unresponsive in the back of a silver SUV in the parking lot of the Burbank apartment complex on Jan. 23, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
Her body was later found in the desert with duct tape around her mouth, according the release.
Investigators say they believe Dyson is responsible for the death.
The Sheriff’s department told CBS Los Angeles that Dyson’s family did not know he was a suspect in the case.
The case remains under investigation and the sheriff said he is withholding details about the case pending the results of toxicology tests.
Investigators were not immediately able to confirm whether the victim was an adopted child.
